Lot Calculations

so, here’s the whole gamut for my chart so there’s an example to work off of and hopefully make it easier to apply to your chart! im using schmidt’s calculations for this pass. i’m gonna start with the spirit lots but the order doesn’t particularly matter. i also get to cheat a little bit; my lots are so bundled up that i only really have to do two analyses. you’ll see what i mean.
    ⁃   lot of desire:
   - the lot of desire is in capricorn.
   - the lot is occupied by selene.
      - occupying the lot, events that selene signifies would incite/rouse me to *want* to do something. selene signifies traveling/voyages and wanderings, which to me are extremely rousing. for me this even contributes to me being a homebody (sometimes going out and going about so much is too exhausting so i stay in). the assembly of people (another selene signification) also rouses me to want to do things; i honestly do have a herd mentality and i respond eagerly to peer pressure- if people are doing it, i kinda wanna see what the hype is about. housekeeping is another selene signification, and i’ve actually lamented before  that my parents never gave me much in the way of chores, since i find them kind of energizing and they help me build momentum to do things that i want to do.
   - the lot is hosted by kronos (who can see it).
      - as the host, kronos is responsible for taking action or deciding what to do when it comes to these things. i’ll probably need to think about this more and revise, but the things i choose to do when im roused by the desire to act are things i can do by myself or things that otherwise evoke saturnian themes, certainly having a solemn and reserved sort of feel. i like going out by myself and doing things alone that i think tend to be group activities like going to a concert or having a nice lunch someplace, shopping or whatnot.
   - the lot is witnessed by zeus, kronos, and aphrodite.
      - if these represent things that incite me to want to take action but don’t rise to the threshold of conscious awareness… i don’t know how much i can elaborate (due to lack of awarness, not lack of willingness), but i do become roused to want to do something when confronted by something petty (kronos), something beautiful or seductive (aphrodite), or something affirmative (zeus).
   - zeus testifies to the lot.
      - due to being able to see the lot and deliver testimony to kronos, zeus describes the occasions for voluntative action (and possibly advises on what to do about it?). for me this adds a dimension to my version of people pleasing. i will happily volunteer to do something when i see an opportunity for relieving somebody. i was always the kid that ran out to help my mom take in groceries and i was super stoked to carry like ten bags at a time if it made things faster and easier for her. this also applies to more social things, like if my friend (or even somebody i barely know) is afraid to do something alone or is worried to do something themselves, that tends to light me up a little and i volunteer to do it for them or with them. that is, unless i have enough of a hang up about doing it myself.
   - there are no planets that can’t witness but can advise the lord.
    ⁃   lot of victory: 
   - lot of victory is in capricorn.
   - the lot is occupied by selene.
      - the events signified by selene here are essentially the same. but since this is the lot of victory, not only do those events incite me to desire to do something (as with the lot of desire), they also incite me to *hope* to do things, or to believe that things will go well and therefore sort of inspire me to undertake some action. for me these two types of incitement are essentially the same, they basically always occur together. if i choose to do something because i want to do it, then i also have good expectations that it will work. i imagine for others there are scenarios where they may want to do something but they don’t have high hopes that it will go well, but for me that’s not the case. whether things actually go well is another matter. but those same events signified by selene do inspire confidence in me that i can do something and do it well.
   - the lot is hosted by kronos (who can see it).
      - similar story. the action is motivated by hope, but kronos still has the same response. i take a slow, solemn, or (if i have to do it with people) conservative and quiet approach to things when i have good hope that it will work. by conservative i mean both in the sense that i want the project to progress conservatively and that i will not expend more energy than i deem necessary.
   - the lot is witnessed by zeus, kronos, and aphrodite.
      - again, same thing. for me these events incite action chosen by desire and hope inseparably at the same time.
   - zeus testifies to the lot.
      - i won’t beat a dead horse here. activities that zeus signifies also inspire enough good expectations and belief in success that i will choose to act.
   - there are no planets that can’t witness but can advise the lord.
    ⁃   lot of necessity:
   - lot of necessity is in libra.
   - no planets in the lot.
   - the lot is hosted by aphrodite (who cant see it).
      - aphrodite is in charge of things that befall me that necessitate a response. so the course of action i typically take when i am being forced or constricted into action is venusian: i try to harmonize and adorn, make things look pretty or flattering. this probably is more akin to what people actually regard as people pleasing, since my response to being forced into doing things is amicable and amenable, playing along and entertaining things out of my control. for an example of somebody forcing/demanding that i do something: when my dad forced me to join boy scouts, i cried my eyes out and begged not to have to go (maybe i chose those saturnian actions of begging and crying because i thought i still had a chance to get out of it, which would tie in with the delineation of desire and victory). more than that, when the reality sank in that i couldn’t get out of it, i sat in that church basement, admired the weird murals plastering the walls, sat and listened to the leaders and played along, and tried to just waste time by goofing around with the one or two friends i had there.
   - the lot is witnessed by helios, ares, hermes, and selene.
      - if we follow the interpretation that these are events that subconsciously elicit action… i suppose that these things feel like they constrict me and i have that venusian response: being in charge of things (helios), struggles and attacks (ares), disputation and technical activities (hermes), and ironically housekeeping (selene).
   - selene testifies to the lot.
      - this might seem contradictory to what i said about the lots of desire and victory, and it is, but it’s true. i loathe having to do housekeeping chores as much as they energize me. i still put on the venusian response and get into the flow of making things prettier and humming to music as i do, but it’s still something that im constricted into doing. this applies to other events that selene signifies: the whims and gathering of crowds feel like a constraint that i must respond to with a (somewhat forced) venusian smile. living with other people, cohabitation, daily mundane mingling are also significations of selene and have the same feeling and elicit the same response.
   - there are no planets that can’t witness but can advise the lord.
    ⁃   lot of courage:
  - lot of courage is in libra.
   - no planets in the lot.
   - the lot is hosted by aphrodite (who cant see it).
   - you can see now why my chart is easy to do this for and also why it might be hard for me to distinguish in my life between each of the different fortune lots and spirit lots. the same venusian response occurs for me when i am faced with things i would rather not do but befall me anyways, since we’re now in the lot of courage. the phrase “put a brave face on” is fitting for me and there are countless times where i don’t really want to do something but i have to brave it anyways. i’m reminded of a friend who had a tire swing that he used to jump into the lake by his house. we both went up and i was scared shitless but he urged me to do it. the only way i managed was by trying to smile about it and trying to quite literally fall in love with the experience instead of fearing it. one time i was on an inner tube, about to go down a water slide with my sister, and she was scared shitless (i was too); my response was to sing the stupid DARE theme song and make her join in as we went down. i could go on with examples.
   - the lot is witnessed by helios, ares, hermes, and selene.
      - again, you probably don’t need me to repeat all this. things that befall me that subconsciously elicit a venusian response due to me needing to work up the nerve to do them are again describable via helios, ares, hermes, and selene. 
   - selene testifies to the lot.
      - you likely get the point by now. i’ll focus here on the travel/voyage aspect of selene. i said before that voyages and travel and wandering make me feel eager to do things and that’s true. voyage and travel honestly also is occasion for me to have to work up courage. of course, there’s the physical issue of being worried about being on a plane, boat, or train (even though on the whole i enjoy being on them, it’s still an ordeal). there’s also the fact that when i travel, there’s honestly an irritating amount of struggles that befall me. in middle school, i went to china and here are two examples from that: on the great wall, there was this lady selling knick knacks. she was extremely persistent and i, being 14, resorted to the venus tactic and said okay and bought some things even though i had no real desire for them (except maybe as a cheap souvenir; even then it was unwieldy and annoying). that example also applies to the lot of necessity, really, due to the constraint that i felt to respond to her. while i was in xi’an, i was on the city wall, where they were renting out bikes to ride around it on. despite barely knowing how to ride, i got one and did pretty well for a bit, until i absolutely fucking wiped out. the stone left my knees all scraped and bloody as i was crumpled on the ground. but i got through it by admiring the huge, flowing, colorful decorations and banners all around the wall (and a stranger or two who helped me up and gave me a bandaid, who i smiled politely at through the wincing and thanked shrinkingly).
   - there are no planets that can’t witness but can advise the lord.
    ⁃   lot of nemesis:
  - lot of nemesis is in libra.
   - no planets in the lot.
   - the lot is hosted by aphrodite (who cant see it).
      - wow, another one in libra. you can probably guess the response here. when met with inaction and things that befall me such as grief, loss, and impotence as befits nemesis, my response is once again venusian. smile and nod, find something pretty to look at and admire, compliment the weight and sheen of the shackles.
   - the lot is witnessed by helios, ares, hermes, and selene.
      - again, the events with the character of these planets, signified by these planets, take on triple duty. they are also the types of things that i perceive as destructions or losses to be suffered. and to which i have the same response. i tend to react to grief with poetry or otherwise i resort to consuming art or substances to appease my senses.
   - selene testifies to the lot.
      - no surprises here. i have gone on long enough so i’ll keep this one brief. obviously the loss of my mother is a salient example of a selene-signified grief that befell me. hell, my own body (again, hello selene) feels like something i have to suffer, which i resolve through appeasement. if you look at the examples for the other fortune lots, you’ll notice that each one was also a suffering, a loss, a destruction, a bout of impotence.
